In Ohio County Schools, we love a good #alumnispotlight.  Meet Wheeling Park High School’s Class of 2010, Greg!

Greg Mulley is a former Warwood Elementary and Warwood Middle School Viking.  His time at WPHS made the absolute best of both our county’s athletic and artistic opportunities:

“At Wheeling Park, I ran cross country all four years, was part of the 2008 state championship team, and served as a team captain in 2009.  I was also active in music. I began playing double bass in fourth-grade strings and continued in orchestra and jazz band throughout high school.”

Mulley credits his experiences in school for guiding him on his current path: “My academic and extracurricular experiences at Warwood and Wheeling Park built a strong foundation and gave me the confidence to pursue degrees in mathematics (BA) and statistics (MA) at West Virginia University. My math teachers, particularly Ellen Nau and Carol Obermann, were instrumental in preparing me for those studies.  Cross country also sparked a lasting interest in endurance sports, which has led to long-distance hiking and biking trips across the U.S., South America, and Africa.”

And Mulley’s life today?

“After graduating from WVU, I moved to Washington, DC to work as a statistician at the U.S. Census Bureau. In my free time, I enjoy long-distance hiking. In 2022, I completed the Appalachian Trail (about 2,200 miles across 13 states). In 2025, I hiked the Pacific Crest Trail (approximately 2,650 miles from Mexico to Canada through California, Oregon, and Washington).  This year, I plan to hike the 3,000+ mile Continental Divide Trail to complete the “Triple Crown” of U.S. long-distance hiking.”

That’s not it though…
“My greatest accomplishment, however, remains earning the “Prettiest Eyes” senior superlative in 2010.”
