We have some pretty "X-cellent" news coming from Wheeling Middle School!
Pictured below is Middle Creek Elementary music teacher and WMS Steel Band teacher, Miss Kailey Filben.
A few months ago, Filben submitted recordings of her steel band troupe to WV Music Educators Association for an intensive, blind judging process with the hope of being selected to perform as an "X-Ensemble" (or unique, small-group) during the annual WVMEA conference.
And they just learned...
THEY WERE SELECTED! This is the first time a middle school in OCS has received this specific honor, and we're told this group was dancing around the hallways after learning the news.
You can catch them in Charleston with the other two state-wide selections on March 6th at noon.
So many congratulations, ladies!
