New Partners in Education

Ritchie Elementary School has two new Partners in Education that are committed to the school and the needs of its students.

Ritchie Elementary School Principal John Jorden attended Monday’s regular meeting of the Ohio County Board of Education where he announced the school’s new partnerships with Hope United Methodist Church and New Life United Methodist Church. Jorden and Pastor April Forkey, who is the pastor of both churches, signed the partnerships which are formalized by The Education Alliance.

“I’ve been to Ritchie each year for the block party, and I’ve met the kids and watched them grow,” Forkey said. “We are happy to be partners. I’ve been so impressed with the kids. They’ve been so sweet, so nice and so mannerly.”

New Life Church Chairman Bob Neidhardt said he has been impressed with Ritchie Elementary School, and he is looking forward to receiving a “wish list” of the school’s needs. Maryjane Rogerson is a member of Hope Church, which has long been involved in the school’s “Backpack Snack” program, tutoring and the school’s volunteer reading program. She said one of her most important goals is to make the students love reading.

Jorden thanked representatives of both churches for their support. He said he looks forward to working closely with them.
