monument with names
For several years, an eagle statue at Wheeling Park High School has welcomed students as they walk into the building, and two years ago, with the help of the OCS BOE, LEDA funding, and Kalkreuth Roofing, we were able to begin to process of documenting and recognizing WPHS graduates that are either active duty military or veterans.

We were also able to find a permanent place for recognition for two graduates, David Van Camp and Matthew Hunter, that lost their lives defending our country.

Two years ago, we received nearly 200 names, and earlier this week, we've been able to add 50 more.

What is the process of having a name added to the monument?
-Be or know a WPHS graduate who is either active duty or veteran status
-Fill out the proper form and verification with the OCS BOE that enables OCS to verify graduation and enlistment status (link available in September through the provided website below)

The next round of names will be able to be documented beginning in September of 2026 with a plan to add in summer of 2027.  You can see existing monument names and save this website to consider adding a new name in early Fall here: https://ocsstyleguide.my.canva.site/wphs-military-monument

We have to give a HUGE shout out to Mr. Gus Fedorke (pictured below), Machine Tool Technology teacher, and his students.  They worked diligently on this project to ensure these names look beautiful.  We also want to thank the administration at Wheeling Park High School.  Finally, and most importantly, thank you to the men and women and their families that have dedicated their lives to the service of this country.

We look forward to maintaining this annual tradition.
