Week of May 18
We will continue with our CyberSwat Lessons throughout this week in Developmental Guidance.
We have a great Festival of Spring concert this Thursday at 7 pm in the Performing Arts Center.
For everyone, as we get closer to wrapping up, we want to remind you that Chromebooks will be collected on the last days of school. Attached is the replacement pricing should items be lost or broken.
Seniors – All week you can check the spelling of your name and academic honors for graduation in the Main Office. You may then purchase your stoles & cords in advance, online or you can wait and purchase everything at Senior Checkout. Your last day is Friday, May 22nd.
Lastly, we encourage all families to attend our LSIC Stakeholder meeting this Tuesday at 5:30 in the ILC. We are specifically sharing the many things Wheeling Park High School does to help students find their post-graduation pathway. Please come hear from us and share your feedback. We’ll have snacks and some prizes as well.

For week of May 11
Three big things this week.
First – We do not have school on Tuesday for Election Day.
Second – Our students can access their PSAT & SAT Test Day Scores on Thursday. Students created their own College Board accounts. We’ve worked with kids to help them document the email and password they used. However, Wheeling Park has no control or access to those accounts. If you have difficulty logging in to see scores, you’ll need to reach out directly to College Board.
Third – This Friday we will start our state mandated cyber safety lessons. This law specifically mandates education centered around sexploitation, cyberbullying, and other difficult topics. In this course - There are six lessons and we’ll work on them through this week and next in Developmental Guidance. You may review this website for additional information and opt-out form if necessary https://wveis.k12.wv.us/cyberswat
Lastly – We continue to wish all of our spring sports good luck as they move through tournament time.

Week of May 4
Congratulations to our Theater Department for their fabulous Spring Musical – The Addams Family. It was a hit!
This week is Teacher Appreciation Week. We’re doing all the things to spoil them, but I’m positive a few nice messages from families and students would be very much appreciated!
Tomorrow morning, our signs up for Summer School will open. We offer in-person credit recovery for Math, English, Science & Social Studies. We also offer in-person summer Physical Education. The PE class is capped at around 60 kids and is on a first come first served basis. Please use the links on Schoology to sign up.
AP testing starts this week as well. We want to wish all of our AP students the best of luck on their exams!
And lastly, senior parents, I posted a very short video on Schoology in the Class of 2026 group about the timeline for purchasing hoods, stoles & cords for graduation. I hope it helps clarify any questions you may have. If you still need help, please reach out!

It is PROM week! We hope students will have fun with the Spirit Week Dress Up days we have planned. For those students with APPROVED PROM permission forms, they can start purchasing tickets tomorrow morning on our GoFan website. Tickets are $20/student.
Tomorrow students will receive a flyer about the Ohio County School Mental Health Fair. It this Thursday evening, the 23rd, at West Virginia Northern Community College. There are a variety of sessions related to high school age students, and I highly recommend the guest speaker, Mr. Jim Harris. Hope you can attend.
Otherwise, we continue to remind seniors to complete their senior survey and honor cord applications. All of which can be found in Schoology.

We are excited to welcome Mr. Bryan Arbes as our new Assistant Principal. ❤️👏🏻💙
Mr. Arbes spent eight years as a Phys. Ed and Health teacher at Wheeling Park. The last two years he's been the Assistant Principal at Bridge Street Middle School. We are lucky to have someone familiar with our staff, students and traditions. He will oversee students with the last name starting with H through O.
Welcome Mr. Arbes!!

Prepare for several calls this week as it is ...SAT Test Week!
All 9, 10 and 11 graders will be testing on Friday, April 17. For Juniors, this is our state assessment, but it is also a FREE official administration of the SAT which allows them to submit scores to schools and earn the Promise Scholarship. We will test from 7:30 a.m. to about 11 a.m. and allow for early dismissals once testing is complete. We will use a specific early dismissal note that students will receive mid-week. If students can’t dismiss early, we’ll provide them lunch and enrichment activities for the remainder of the day.
On Friday, 12th graders are expected to be out of the building and participate in our tradition of Patriot Day of Caring. Those forms have already been provided to students and can also be found on Schoology.
Also, for Seniors, please continue to focus on the graduation items we shared last week. The Senior Survey is due on Friday, April 24.
And lastly, PROM permission forms are due on Friday, April 17. Students and parents receive email notification of their dance permission status and can work with Administration with any issues. Tickets will go on sale Monday, April 20. And the dance is Saturday, April 25 at the White Palace from 6 to 9 p.m. Promenade starts at 5 p.m.

Staff heard presentations on Common Assessment Item Analysis with Southern Regional Education Board, our retirement system, special needs accommodations in general classrooms, Option Programs and SAT Test Day training. We are grateful for the time these PL Days afford and are excited to see our kids tomorrow!

Tomorrow is a PL Day. Students do not report.
On Tuesday, 9th, 10th & 11th graders will be doing pre-registration for the PSAT/SAT Test Day. We have scheduled our tests for Friday, April 17. We’ll be sharing more details on the day as we get closer, but it is imperative that we have their attendance for this state test.
Please join us Wednesday evening for the Steve Myers Legacy Baseball Game. We play John Marshall at 5:30. There will be several fundraising activities, and all proceeds will be donated to the American Cancer Society.
Lastly, the volume of early dismissals we are receiving has become concerning. Please do everything you can to ensure students are in school for a full day. It is in their best academic interest. We appreciate you scheduling appointments outside of the 7:30 to 2:30 school day. If a student must dismiss early, please write them a note rather than calling in. It’s a much more efficient process for us in the Main Office. We appreciate your help!
