Ohio County Schools students are benefitting from an initiative by a local business.

Books-A-Million at The Highlands held a donation drive over the summer for customers to purchase books for Ohio County Schools students. Customers selected books from a list of favorites provided by school system administrators and teachers based on student popularity. The books are still being delivered to the schools.

Ohio County Schools Federal Programs and Assessment Director Walt Saunders said the school system and its students appreciate Books-A-Million and General Manager Aaron Baker for the project. He said it has provided hundreds of books for students at each of Ohio County’s public schools.

“This is a great way to encourage our students to read,” Saunders said. “These books are current favorites and all-time classics, so there is something for all of the students. I can’t thank Books-A-Million enough for this project and everyone who purchased books to contribute to it.”
