West Liberty Fairy Tail Challenge

West Liberty Elementary School students were recently challenged to use their engineering skills to help their favorite fairy tale characters!!!

The project involved students in students in each grade level, and Pre-k students created a bed or chair that was just right for Goldilocks. Kindergarten students had to build a bridge to help the Gingerbread man over the river and away from the fox, while first graders built the highest and biggest beanstalk to help Jack sneak into the giant's castle.

Second-grade students found a way for the Billy Goats Gruff to get to the other side of the river and avoid the troll, and third graders created a new non-pumpkin carriage for Cinderella because of her pumpkin allergy!

Fourth graders made elevators so that Rapunzel's visitors quit pulling her hair as they climbed to see her, and fifth-grade students created conveyer belts to help Snow White's dwarves so they weren't so tired at the end of each day in the mine.

West Liberty Elementary School Principal Stacy Dietz said she was proud of her students’ skills and efforts.

“The projects and creativity were amazing,” Dietz said. “There are so many wonderful engineers here at West Liberty Elementary School.”
