Alumni Highlight
Ohio County Schools is so proud of the lives our alumni have gone on to lead.  Today’s #alumnihighlight focuses on 2007 Wheeling Park High School Graduate, Corinne Tork.

Corinne attended Triadelphia Middle School followed by Wheeling Park High School.  She excelled in speech, theater, and music: “I basically lived in the choir rooms.  I was on the Speech and Debate team, in Voices of Freedom, and then the Young Patriots.  I took acting classes all four years, designed a set and painted it for a musical that I also performed in.  I did musicals, plays, and won Queen of Queens in 2007!”

Tork credits her childhood in Wheeling with helping craft the adult she is today.  “My childhood in Wheeling was basically a dream come true.  I was very lucky as a kid to live in the same neighborhood and go to school with the same kids for many years.  We created incredible friendships that are still alive and well today.”

When discussing her TMS and WPHS experiences, Tork recalled the specific impact of two staff members.  “Bill Cornforth and Joyce Jingle changed my life.  They taught me discipline, patience, and really, truly believed in me and my endeavors. They’re also going to be at my wedding this year!”  Tork went on to emphasize that one of the most exciting parts of beginning her journey with Ohio County Schools was the ability to start in the school choir.  “I had just missed the choir auditions for the year, and I begged Mrs. Jingle to sing for her!” Tork explained.

With the encouragement and guidance of both Jingle and Cornforth in conjunction with Tork’s incredible talent, Tork was crowned the 2007 Ohio Valley Athletic Conference Queen of Queens.  “I took the money and used it to move to New York and start college at The American Musical and Dramatics Academy.”

Tork still resides in New York City where she performs.  She also works in animal welfare.
